Lighthouse

The sky’s grim and pitch black
The moon and stars have hidden
Behind the sinister rain clouds;
A nether world, light has forgotten

Then a bright flash, a beam of light
From the skyline; the far horizon
A fresh hope to all vessels afloat
In the dark and forbidding ocean…

Like those ships, I’m lost at sea
Going through life with no direction
The North Star nowhere to be found
I’m in a downward spiral to oblivion

But you; you have been my lighthouse!
The steady beacon even in my dream
Out of this dark road; I need to be
So tarry not; cast me a moonbeam

I added the third stanza just now. I think it makes the poem much better
