A Cold Dream

I can’t keep up this race,
So bone-chillingly lonely,
Still lingering in this cold place,

I’ve had this dream before...

Pain, agonizing pain strikes again,
Utterly and totally alone,
Like pulling the plug of my heart, a drain,

Wait, this isn’t a dream...

After the pain, even worse,
That numbing Nothing that envelops me,
Choking my last tears with a curse,

This is a nightmare...

Stuck in this black Abyss,
Sinking ever lower, drowning in the inky darkness,
Release would be such a sweet bliss,

And then I realize,
Once again,
I’m not sleeping.
