An Exploration in Rhyme

My hopes have turned into air
I simply could not care
                                                                    Spring is here
                                                                   My time is near
Depression’s terrible snare
Has earned its final scare
Wishing I could hug those dear
                                     The great fear
Has chased away every prayer
It is not fair
                                                          Death’s twisted leer
                                                          Leans  grim and clear
I wish I could share
The pain, and yet where
                                                           I can hear
                                                           Whispering in my ear
I would never do it! I swear!
Death’s cruel laugh sends out it’s final dare.
                                                    A single tear
This will be my last year.
