My Body As Landscape

Raging rivers of hurt

                                                           Ending in

Cascading waterfalls of sorrow

                                                                 That crash into

A deep, dark lake of responsibilities tossed aside

                                                                                                  Behind which lies

An entire plain of barren loneliness

                                                                        Encompassed by

A swamp that drowns out hope

                                                               Over which broods

The storming thunderclouds of regret

         Words unsaid

         Words unthinkingly said

When the well of tears

Dries up and not a single drop remains

When the forest of dreams

Is torn to shreds

And the starry sky of happiness

Blinks into nothingness

                                             One by one

Then, and only then, shall one be able to describe

A body as landscape

                                        My body as landscape.
