The Pursuit of Nothing

For those who still have "Something"

Sweet, sweet Nothing

What could be more beautiful than Nothing?

For Something is always

Broken, Destroyed, Ruined,

Who wouldn’t seek to pursue Nothing?

It is the absence of

Pain, Suffering, Sorrow,

Who needs Something when you can have Nothing?

I would much rather have Nothing

Because then there would be no tears

No thing is truly beautiful

Save Nothing alone

For those things that you might consider beautiful

Are so fragile, they can be broken at any time

And when they do eventually break,

You are left in agony, sorrow and grief

Can such sorrow and sadness be called beautiful?

People are said to have “Everything”

Perhaps they start out with Everything, an (un)lucky few

For then they have all the more to lose

And lose it they will

Can such loss and defeat be called beautiful?

Nothing is more beautiful than both Something and Everything

What could be more beautiful, then, than Nothing itself?

What a glorious prospect it is!

“The pursuit of happiness” they called it

I called it “the pursuit of sadness”

I think we would all prefer

“The Pursuit of Nothing.”
