Haunting

(to; letting go)

I seen you there,
with luggage in hand.
you turned my way,
stopped and stared.
You said that you
had to leave,
i begged, i pleaded
you took my hands
as i screamed.

You said
‘for now its not the time for me
to have this strength of love and hurt,
you see,
i love you with all my heart,
but right now its torn apart.
what we have is chipped and worn,
and all our memories are torn.
So to love you now will hurt too much,
and i must go, not have your heart
not have your touch.’.

As you dried my tears away,
your warmth, your face
faded to grey.
And as my shaking hands reached out
and the words 'i love you’ sobbed out of my mouth,
I awoke trembling
in a chilling cold sweat,
from a nightmare that filled me with intense regret.

I turned to where you’d always lay,
not a sign nor trace
that you had stayed.
You are really gone from me,
In life, my world,
my haunting dreams.

(2013)

When the hardship of letting go of love invests itself into every aspect of the mind.
