No More

This love is suffocating,
the air it breathes is fading.
The past it overwhelms it
and the warmth its slowly dying.
The truth, it morphs to nothing,
and these hearts, they begin to crumble.
Trust just becomes a word
with the thought of lies becoming heard.

Forgotten are the times,
the memories we spent in peace.
But what starts to come to life
are the days we dwelled in hurt.
Reoccurring notions
of ages filled with question,
the tears that marched from bloodshot eyes
when we craved the embrace of affection.

Our blood ran grey,
as the world became a stranger.
What came to pass in twisted fate,
were souls grasping on by fingers.
All the while i kept your heart
in hands meant for yours.
In solace i awaited
for the day hurt proclaimed 'no more’.

(2012)

This poem voices the reality of what intense love can bring into a relationship. Hurt, when there's conflict, and longing to just have that white flag of truce and forgiveness revealed.
