I sang a song...

I sang a song. They said, “Sing it loud!”
So I ruffled my feathers, pounded my chest and belt out my soul to the sun and the wind.
I sang that song with all my voice, with every cord and muscle in me.
Yet when I was through, they called me aside, said “Sing it louder, will you!”
I stood on my toe nails, stretched my beak to the limit, drew in breath from below my belly, where I found the last of my voice and sang with all passion and zeal.
“Sing!” they said, “Sing! Sing! Sing!” they chanted.
I sang and I danced, till my voice was hoarse, and my feet failed me.
When my voice had died they gathered around me to say, “ Well, you ain’t much of a singer anyway.”

Just a random pattern of mismatched thoughts.
