As I Walked Up to the Drive

Daddy’s girl was up all night
Always looking for a sight
Other poet, things to write
Phony poles that do not bite

She was happy I could see
Happy as a girl can be
But in pain a greater fee
And she came approaching me

And not knowing what to say
I was quiet night and day
Thinking of my life away
And to keep her I would pray

And at last my mind was sore
I said words that were a bore
He looked at me and the door
And she I would see no more

As I walked up to the drive
She would come and would not lie
She said that we would survive
To keep life and love alive.
