Less Yielding Than Stone

We’ve lost ones before
And in future lose.
But now what we store,
Bring in through this door
Is ours now to choose.

I’ve known you forever
Although we’ve just met
And you’ve made me better.
I write you this letter
So I don’t regret.

Less yielding than stone,
But mirrors show you
A flower, alone,
More dry, dead than known.
Ignore this false view.

No letters can drive
Your struggles in vain.
You’re strong and alive,
But know now that I’ve
been here and remain.
