Among heaven, in hell

In loving memory

A peculiar truth among the stars
Is one of distance and yet closeness.
An unfathomable distance is truly
Just beyond any tangible grasp.
To stare up at the heavens,
A soft black blanket,
Layer upon layer of silky secrets.
A hand reached out catches nothing
But a torn shred of a hope, to hear
The gleeful stars murmur their
Sweet secrets of distance and space.
The fear of the unknown is foreboding,
No one seeks to find the end.
Yet, the layers of pinholes in the sky,
Those lights have seen the universe.
There is a curious secret among the stars,
One of distance and hope and light.
To stare at the heavens, knowing
Heaven and Hell are contained in the same space,
Yet unable to reach out and grasp
Any tangible, silky sky.
