Once Lost

I want to sail away and never look back.

My parched throat will be the only shore I’ll ever need.

Dawn, noon, night; only me, the sea, and occasionally light.

Storms are friendly, they invite me in.

There is a hidden understanding in the grooves between me and the sea.

I take what I need, it takes what it desires.

It will never want me, my situation won’t ever be dire.

I can float for days on end, I’ll be alright if I never encounter another human soul again.

The waves are always changing, yet they’re ever the same.

They don’t take or fill orders, they just do what they do in an array of harsh effervescent beauty.

I’m a wave now so it seems.

I’ve blissfully gained and lost my identity.
