The many notes in Laughter

Every key sings a dying strain,
Dancing only to fall again,
Tears of laughter, tears of joy
Hollow sound like a broken toy,
A piano’s tears would fall like rain,

All alone in a crowded room,
Deafened by your sonic boom,
Tears of sorrow, tears of fire
Laughter lights the burning pyre,
Stars weep brightly from their prison-sky tomb.

A silver bell sings out it’s tune,
Of sun-kissed summer and endless moon,
Tears of relief fall on a key
Laughter now sounds sharp in G,
And those sweet, sad smiles will all fade soon.
