No Absolution

No Absolution
By: Imrogue

She left the room
with unsteady gait.
Her heavy heart wept for him
as he perished to oblivion.
Her body bruised
and battered with guilt.
She laid motionless—
humiliated and sorrowed—
She moaned with pain
but nobody’s there to hear it—
For years she cried out in silence—
contemplated death
for her absolution
but cowardly braced
to live instead.
A life with mournful existence.
