The Laburnum Tree

20150514
Inspired by Tony Hill's poem "Carved"

As I walked once more
through a trail in the woods,
dried leaves crushed under my feet.
The mist rose from beneath and laced
around the Oaks, Pines, Maples, and wait...
Laburnum, resplendent in colour!

Laburnum... what a magnificent tree!
It moved gracefully with slight breeze in the air.
Its clustered yellow flowers
adorning its frame...
to the sight, it is a delight!
With hanging flowers like pendants on chains,
like lit up lanterns through the night.

As I moved closer towards the tree,
like a moth drawn to fiery light...
bright yellow flowers - served a warning...
for brilliance hides its secret well
and in beauty, lies danger.
