Burn

I can burn a page or two,
forget a name with the thought of you.
Ignore the need, the pleas,
but this thing I cannot do.
I want to bring it to you,
show it to you.
In ignorance I want to give it to you.
So I hold.
Like a whore that wants no more,
I hold.

I can burn a page or two,
erase all trace for you,
but I will not give up the race for you.
So I run.
Like the paint on your face,
I drain for you,
straight to the bottom of the truth for you.
That’s when you’ll ask me ‘who?’,
and then we’ll see you,
burn a page or two.
