Prose and Cons[truction]: “An American Dream Under Destruction”

My House; My Castle
Crumbling on cue
As piece, by piece
All comfort; Consumed

My halls; My doors
With window panes fall
My stairs; My walls
Recede with it all

As for those of whom
Securely it kept
The cracking increased
With our lack of respect

So brick, by brick
And stone upon stone
The timbers were split
Smashing our home

Rolling and playing
It lingers around
Regret in the dust
Of debris pummeled ground

Recounting the loss
This Love, Hope, and Crown
Of My Home, My Castle...
I swiftly tore down.
