Hide Stripped

When the caffeine
turns to cigarettes and Meth-amphetamine
And the Amphetamines
turn to Cocaine sex and Heroin dreams
And the PCP, and years of LSD
have churned up the grief in me
These tics and tocs
will never mend the scars they leave
And I cannot pretend
I haven’t any beneath my sleeve
All I can do is show you
and hope that you can see
That my heart has not been scarred
as deeply as the rest of me.
