A Metamorphosis

By J Ann Crowder

The cocooned creature croons in her sleep

She dreams as her figure transforms

No guise can disguise such a visage of changing light

Not night

Darkness could never disclose her perfected form awakening inside a sheltered cocoon

Entrapped, she eagerly senses her troubles whilst struggling to break free

Her heart does not comprehend, to this end, the surpassing beauty painted upon her wings

Thereby, we sing tunes ringing truth to our ears

For freedom is found in a kingdom of glowing fire and colorful winds brushing tinted strokes across a globe of gardens and paradise

By and by, she breaks free, lifting her wings upon the winds

Our souls’ delight in such a metamorphosis

We long to taste nectar groves where butterflies are set adrift amidst an oasis of sky

For, inside our own shell, a metamorphosis awaits

Thus, emerging within our awakening dreams

I don't remember when I wrote this but I had stumbled upon it today.
