Extinction

By J Ann Crowder

Hearts beating their final round—last leaves clinging to sustenance
Spring gullies dipping into nature’s pixie dust—miracle growth
Nigh, approaching the inevitable fall
’Tis a beautiful fate!
Wooded gardens I admire
A flowering of aspen trunks beholden to acknowledging eyes—they, gypsies touching a seascape of twighlight sky
To this end I seek her wonder
A metaphorical teacher—nature exploding upon a globe of wild beings and magical terra firma, illuminated by colorful light of poppies splashing my chin orange and yellow
Closer still, withal my tomb
Ivy climbing my gate, decorating my home where bold roses dash solemnity, pushing life’s dullness into an evaporation of sweet extinction
