I write freedom with the sound of words, like free motion in wind carrying an eagle in flight. In this modern America I’m tired, because it is the wind we beat down as we hinder the soul of words with its simplicity in free thought. I don’t understand why we admire her eagle wings while we beat down the wind beneath them swooping her into open horizons! I don’t understand fear in exchange for barriers plighting our freedoms! Will we no longer sing & pledge our allegiance to open horizons? Or, must we refrain our tongues from words free-flowing while bowing to the security of a locked cage? Not when humankind’s greatest longing is for outstretched wings, and to feel the heat of a beautiful horizon on our skin! We are not birds in a cage, or a taming of a leashed dog! We want to be free to roam. God is the only master of freedom; anything else is but the master of a slave. Government cannot be a master if but only to slaves; because sovereign souls were meant to fly free from cages, and roam far away from tethers.

Unfortunately, freedom of speech can be abused, and is abused by those who want to incite emotions, by the proponents of conspiracy theories, by those who want to cause upheavals in society. I read somewhere that 40% of millennials say the government should be able to prevent people from publicly making statements that are offensive to minority groups. I wouldn't go that far myself. Like many people I disagree with government censoring, but consider all the suicides, attempted suicides, riots, that all could be avoided. This is a cliché - but shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater, when there is none, is not freedom of speech. Perpetuating a lie, that have been debunked in local, state and federal courts, especially by our elected leaders is not freedom of speech.

Free Speech should be allowed always, but we have to have law & order too. So, holding those who promote & practice violence accountable is important. Law & order are vital elements as well as freedom & Amendment Rights...Too much violence these several months. It’s not right, we know; however, we all need to remember our freedoms won’t last unless we all value them together. You take away 1 freedom from 1 party, then it’s an attack on that freedom for all of us. Freedom is essential to happiness, but so is law & order. Unfortunately, we live in an imperfect world, & even the best governments will eventually fall. Let’s pray it lasts a little long though. Honing in the views & narrowing the gap of divisiveness would be nice. Both far ends of the spectrum are out of control right now. Time to hone both sides in. I miss the better days of politics, when we were more open & respecful.

@J Ann Crowder : Sorry, but politics does not breed respect.

Like and fave. Thank you Jenifer.

Take a deep breath now and smile. No cages allowed ever in this land of the free.

Fast moving development in today’s US governance -executive, parliamentary and judiciary. In the maze of all this we as citizens (state , federal, sovereign souls or otherwise) are left wondering who governs us and what we are being governed for? What our freedoms and non-liberties are? Equality in what? In other words, is there still freedom in being governed? Read: governing as in ruling, power over subjects.
A whirlwind of changes is yet to come and hopefully for the better. At the rate how freedom is being tethered we’ll be left nowhere but chained and caged, I agree. No soaring of beautiful words like the magnificent spreading wings of the eagles, fervently hope will
not be.

Freedom, at the end of the day, is what everybody truly wants. Turning against each other is the fastest way to see all our freedoms swallowed quickly. Thank you for reading, & commenting.
