Imperial Red Rose

J Ann Crowder

She is a decorative spray of dancing Persian red
A dulcet heart, dressed in petals of dove like silk
An immortal rose, suffused with wild Castilian blood
’Tis warm and winsome—musky with scarlet blown hues
She is an emblem—nature's adorning, rich flume vase
A quiet song of ruby slumbers—an empyrean of zoetic fulgence
A soft roseate, charming in her silence of melliloquent bliss
’Tis a rathe of spring tide blush wine, forever orchestrated by God’s colored ink
She lives as an imperial art within my mind’s eye
