Follow The Crowd

Dystopian nightmares depict
A world of totalitarian control
With freedom as the virtue lost
Sending civilization down the hole

But perpetual dissent and rebellion
Are insidiously the goals
Of the powers that be
To an extent that right and wrong
May be as different as you and me

For the total order dreaded by so many
Begets an internal insurrection
Yet the freedom that they have, if any
Makes for an utter lack of self-inspection
Drowning beneath the vices of plenty
Society advances beyond correction
