Myopia

to my former self...

the mind,
it drowns in apathy,
as it struggles for a breath,
you see,
the truth,
it ties a noose,
around the necks
of those who’ve yet to see,
themselves in different light

They’re just busy chasing shadows,

but as day returns to night,
it seems our sight is only borrowed,

So, clap your hands together,
as we wish for something better,
yeah, we’ll tear the veiling fabric
that you’ve sewn,

A promise meant to keep,
yeah, well, you’re lying through your teeth,
as if your eyes were buried deeper
than your soul
