Hunting for fire dragons in the park

For Zac

Crisp cold crunch of boots through shards of glistening winter grass.

Silent, skeletal trees, hiding little.

Yet, you must watch for movement in the corners of your eyes.

For fire dragons can sleep in stealth and mock the very branches of ash and oak.

Still.

Silent.

Not a grown up knows they are there.

Zac the hunter stalks.

How many fire dragons did you catch today?

None?

Maybe it was too windy for the fire dragons to blow their fire.

Or maybe mummy’s boots crunched too loud and warned them all away!
