One Night Stand

I only have a moment before my heavy eyes will close.
Wishing I could linger here,
Shrug off the sweet repose of sleep,
Which is coming,
And the darkness fills my head.
And this is all we have my love.
This time and the sweet things we both have said.

So I will try to ride the dawn,
To a day which I must face alone.
Try to ride the dawn,
And deep inside there’ll be an empty space,
But in this moment you have filled me with your care.
And the hard part will be tomorrow.

When the dawn rouses me, with the sunlight streaming in.
And my head on your shoulder,
Probably will not rest there again.
Breakfast will be looming,
And the time that I will leave.
So I’ll put a smile on my face,
Pull your body closer to gain reprieve.

And once more try to ride the dawn!
