Plea to parent

I don’t want to hear that.
What it was you said.
No son of mine could be like that.
I’d rather you were dead!

Things we shouldn’t talk about.
Barriers in our lives.
Boys aren’t meant to be like that.
They settle down with wives.

I can’t help the way I feel.
You tell me I am wrong.
I love it when he touches me.
When he holds me he’s so strong.

What crime have I committed?
Feelings from inside.
I can’t walk your road no more.
And let the real me hide.

See an outcast in the mirror.
Don’t push me away.
I need you to be here with me.
Please accept what I say.

I don’t want to hear that.
What it was you said.
No son of mine could be like that.
I’d rather you were dead!

(1987)

This is not about my Dad who was lovely but a friend of mine had this response from his dad. Later in life he regretted saying it but once words like this are out they can't be unsaid or forgotten. Think before you speak!
