Who do you love?

An Elegy, A Eulogy?

How do you start to write a poem, “who do you love?”
First, throw out the rhyme. Whilst lazy it just saves time.
Second who do you mention first?
Your children?
Which one?
Your lover?
Which one?
Which order and how is intensity conveyed?
I have been lucky in my life!
I have loved and do love many people in different ways, (read CSLewis,) saving time again.
But you!
You!
You make me feel I’m better as a person,
We’ve laughed, cried, felt, seen, accepted, rejected, touched the rainbow, felt the warming sunset through satisfaction closed eyes.
Laughed. LAUGHED.
And cried.
Tasted the rainbow, champagne, wine, beer, water, artisan roast coffee, smoked salmon, cream cheese, any cheese, seaweed, sausages, duck, chocolate mouse, dirty jacks, tequila, single malts, north ronaldsay mutton, star anis, foie gras, coriander.
Danced, sang, acted watched, cheered, jeered, feared, supported, repudiated, wondered, wandered, shared angst, shared certainty.
Watched the evolution of the human race in a blinks eye vision and despaired.
Watched the evolution of the human race in a blinks eye vision and rejoiced.
You make me feel!
And I hope I make you feel too.
Love knows no boundaries of time, space or effort.
Love just IS once achieved.
Because you have taken the time, used the space and made the effort!
I can’t do a list.
I love and respect you too much to think you may be hurt by your exclusion, position in the list, inclusion, the arrogance of me writing it down.
You know who YOU are!
And if you don’t?
What a failure of a life I’ve lived.
