Mother of Forgotten

I found you at last.
I do not need to see your face,
or know your name.
I just need to know that you were there,
that you came from the same place I came from.

You connect me to everyone,
to the earth and to the past.
You wait for me,
carrying light, carrying love
so death seems less dark.

You made me part of your family,
then shared me with the world.
I don’t need to remember your name,
or know what your face looks like,
only that you are my mother.
