Back Bay stop on the Orange Line

The orange train screeched
around the bend, carrying her.
I knew I had to act quickly
in my expressions of affection.

I anticipated her every move,
last car, middle door, casual.
I met her at the passage,
neither an exit nor an entrance for us.

A rendezvous of the briefest moment of our love.
I caught her eyes before the doors opened.
Ojala!
All the intensity was captured in my kiss and my smile.

She returned my expression
with a ferocity of her own.
All notions of time limits for love
shed from my anxious mind,

her smile provided a shield
for my heart and was contagious.
Emotions of facial expressions erupted,
triggering more euphoria,

laughing and light of heart,
our purest undistracted affinity.
The doors closed, opposite
but meaningless exchange of positions.

Love had not changed,
but rather transcended the moment.
Never a beginning or an end.
Never a hello or a goodbye.

Always,
only Love
