Bleeding yellow

Flowers spilling out of my mouth,
your crooked teeth scraping against my tongue,

speaking words I could
never hear
out loud.
Violet spreading across my skin,
the sky under your veins,
left me with a lump in my throat
as if I had swallowed the train
that’s racing across the tracks that are my bones.
My hands shaking to the beat of the rain,
as the clouds leak her tears
into the cracks
in my soul.
Your voice sounded like the last day of summer,
your hands felt like purple, the same purple I feel on the insides of my cheeks

I bite my tongue, as I let you go

bleeding yellow;

running in every direction, with nowhere to go.

I hold my breath,
as we say our goodbyes.

You’re in my bones,

they can take me away from you,

but they can never take you away from me.
