Dancer

She walked around the Empty earth with pieces of the moon hidden in her pockets. She wore blue skin all her life, her soul a lightning bolt of euphoric dreams. She dug up words from beneath every tree, carving each one that sings into her spine. She was a girl, a girl of the universe, one who’s name was shattered beneath the oceans chest, cutting like waves inside every mouth it’s slept in. She is poison, but she is sunlight.  Her words they run down your skin and seep into your lungs, making a home inside of you, whether they’re invited in or not. She is human, and humans are made to be forgiven. When she can not see the world around her
When she can not feel the heartbeat of Mother Earth inside her
When she can not find her own voice
She will dance.
And one day she will forget everything she ever knew
and she’ll forget that she has wings
So she will dance,
and the world inside of her will come swimming home.
