Fall

We smiled at each other one afternoon in September. From the moment our eyes met I had learned of every piece of your soul, but yet mine still thirsted to know more. As time pushed on you grew inside of me, you became the air that filled my arid lungs, you became the song the birds sang every morning I opened my eyes, you were the pillow that waited under my busy head. You were me, as I was you. But somehow we are strangers. Somehow I don’t know you, yet all I know is you. As the seasons changed and the shaded air around us grew different, so had you. But I stayed standing still, in the middle of the falling leaves and change. Watching the radiance of the very last leaf as it fluttered to the cold barren floor of the earth. I stood there next to the naked tree, and we danced in the moonlight together, as we both had just lost everything.
