Hazy Hallucinations

It was a chilled december night, the night I told her to be still, for all I want is to listen to the world inside you– it’s winds rushing around your hair, it’s moon walking down your body. Hazy dreams swimming in your eyes as you looked at me, I could almost hear the voices of the people you had dreamed of. One by one autumn’s leaves jumped down onto the back of my sweater, the sweater that smelled of honey and broken hearts. I wanted her to feel at home, I wanted to bring to her the moon, so that she could forget. But the clouds had burst overhead, and crawled into her skin, making a home inside of her. A home which I had never been. A home that I could have never given her. So I have taken all the moonlight I could hold, and tonight I will wash my face in its fluorescence; hoping to wash her away from me. But instead I poured the moonlight into a bottle, and I drank every last drop– as if trying to say, you will always be a part of me...

It was a warm August night, the night I remembered how I told her to be still.
