Long forgotten

I dreamed of watching you grow, like the Lilly’s outside my bedroom windowsill. But instead I watched you disappear, and learned to let you go. Drunk off the summer heat I drowned in your blue eyes, and in their oceans waves I forgot how to swim. We Carved our names into the bench made of stones and moonlight, and as it faded, so did you. With sun lit tears resting on my cheeks, I woke from dreams of sailing atop an ocean lit up by the stars, and watched as the lillies slowly said their goodbyes. Winter has stolen their lives and buried them far beneath the earths feet. Maybe there they can make friends with my lost heart. As night time fell and my heels touched the ground, the silence of the unborn flowers below me began to scream. Each petal sank deeper into my veins and with every step I took, I was reminded of you, and how one by one your petals fell. No matter how hard the earth tried to convince me to let go, I still found beauty in your every fallen, wilted leaf. You were a weed that grew around the rim of my ankles, and suffocated my bare soul. But I saw you as a beautiful Lilly, and to this day my love I can’t seem to look at Lilly’s. Because they’re all drenched in your cologne, and stained with long forgotten memories.
