Rain

The rain is falling down around me, as each drop touches my delicate skin, they tell me a secret they learned from the sky. There’s waves in my hair and stars sleeping inside my lungs. The clouds above me tell me their stories of floating above the world, and as the ocean sings me to sleep, I become the rain. Darling I miss how your skin felt against mine, like the way the birds feel so at home when their wings are stroking the crystal skyline. As I watch the little girls with their feet in the ocean and flowers in their hair, I remember the feeling I have forgotten for too long, the innocence I held in the palms of my hands, before it slipped through my fingers like drops of the ocean. I sleep along the spine of the earth and let it capture all my dreams. Tonight when I close my eyes and the wind kisses me goodnight, I’ll carry the world upon my back and fly up to the sky, and there I’ll become the stars. And I will shine down upon your restless figure, and sprinkle starlight along your chest. Oh how I wish to be as the stars, for they get to watch you fall to sleep at night.
