A Love Like Tragedy

It’s kind of hard you know
To let all these thoughts and emotions go.
I try to blend in with everyone else,
but there’s something about myself
That sets me apart.
It kind of puts a pain in my heart.
I’m not done,
I’ve only begun.
With what, you ask?
Oh, well just something of a poetic task.
Don’t worry, it’s fine.
Just relax and enjoy this rhyme.
Something like Dr. Seuss,
I like to let loose
And rhyme things like
Maybe moose
And goose.
Or how about duck
And truck?
But what makes us different
Is that I don’t write for children.
I don’t write about feet
And how many you meet.
Or having apples on top,
Seeing how they will not drop.
I’m more about the dying flower
Sitting at the top of the broken-down tower.
But I’m not all dark and glooming.
I can write about sunshine and flowers blooming.
I can mix it up, too.
Tell me if this one amuses you:
'Laying alone on this beach,
I can’t help but notice the stench of bleach.
I stare off into the beauty of the sunset.
And think back to when our eyes first met.
It’s still amazing to know,
That “that” was three years ago.
Thinking of you keeps me on the edge.
But I know you’ll catch me if I fall off the ledge.
Don’t call me insane,
You know I’d do the same.
I always ask myself when this will end,
Because everytime, you make me fall in love again.
I’m not complaining,
Just simply explaining.
Please, allow me to enclose
Your heart with this white rose.
And also, I present to you, an aquamarine.
Isn’t it the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen?
Don’t look away as I rest on my knee
Because I need to know, if you will marry me.'
And scene.
Now wasn’t that I nice little story?
If you would listen to more, please.
I can create something like a Shakespearean tragedy:
'Two lovers,
set apart by just distance.
A young boy,
with a mind of brilliance.
And his lover,
unlike any other.
You’d say that they were
made for each other.
But the boy grew ill.
Soon, his heart went still.
And his lover,
unlike any other
Cried because she could
not find another
Like him.
And she lost all motivation.
She cried,
and then committed suicide.'
Now wasn’t that sad?
Don’t cry, it wasn’t so bad.
I know,
That was pretty dark.
But hey,
So are a lot of works of art.
Well I guess I’ll let you go free.
I hope you enjoyed my little story.
