I once knew a boy
Who would cry in the night.
Because his dreams
always gave him a fright.

Because all he heard
was his parents fight.

He wished for the day his soul would take flight.

And finally, his spirit

Now his soul is sound asleep, with his eyes closed tight.
I knew that boy,
Because that boy was me.
He learned to fight
through pain and misery.
