Still Standing

Your punches pour,
like rain to the floor.
Your shoves blow,
like the cold impact of snow.
But still, I’m standing.
It takes more than that
to bring me down.
I fight not just for fame,
or for the crown.
But, for the recognition,
and for my respect.
I have a will to survive.
What did you expect?
You think I’ll surrender
just by your will?
Well I’ve got news for you.
Your arrogance gives me
even more of a thrill.
My adrenaline pumps
Eyes widen.
Fists clench,
as I muster up
my strength to push.
And I focus
And sharpen my senses.
My arm thrusts,
I make contact.
My knuckles crack
at the impact.
But in the end,
you’ve fallen.
And I’m still standing.
