Kay

I lived in a world of your rampant chaos
That is your reality

I created a new world to escape
where I am free
and okay

Am I so un important to you?
Am I so yesterdays news?
You won’t speak to me
Look at me
Listen to me!

In my new world
I live inside myself
reflecting on the past few hours
wonder what’s wrong with me

How can I look at the person staring back at me through the mirror?
When I see your face mold into mine?
Our genetics seem to remind me who I could become

Because your my mother
does not mean I’ll become you
I’ll just become better than you.
