Locked Out

Weakly, I twist and I turn
The handle.
Pushing with all my might
Against the heavy wooden door.
Knocking and shouting,
Kicking and screaming.
Sweet, sweet music can be heard.
I put my ear up to the grain of the wood,
And listen to the beautiful sound
That I can hear, but not see.
I wish so badly to join in,
To enjoy the wild games and dances.
Where people are no longer people,
But have turned animalistic.
Untamed and beastly.
Where time and quiet does not exist.
As much as I yell,
The music is forever louder.
The people forever missing the sounds of my petty cry.
Sinking to the floor, I sulk.
For I want so badly the life on the other side of the door.
I wait.
And I wait.
And I waste away.
Never knowing what lies beyond the door,
But never getting to know the world I already belonged in.
