The Golden Bird

Golden and cheerful,
His beak reflects the sun.
Chirping and singing,
All for his loved one.

He sings the day away.
All in the hope
That she will appear,
Some time today.

Days go by,
He sings.
Time flies,
He still sings.

Everyday the same routine.
Puffing his chest,
Singing his song,
All to find the girl of his dreams.

Then on a day so darling,
A hot summer morn,
He heard a faint tweet
That was oh so charming.

So soft was the song,
But it was there nonetheless.
So he opened his beak,
And sang along.

Beautiful and perched,
She appeared on the branch.
And he exclaimed, “I’ve found you!”
And she said, “I’ve searched and searched.”
