The Life Fuel

Deep roots push through the earth
Tearing old soil
Spreading wide
Searching for moisture
Its life fuel
The sun never reaches
Down there near the roots
But they thrive underground
Away from the light
Not needing the sun
Or its energy
Or heat
The roots only care for one thing
Life fuel
Water
It is all the roots need
No sun
No heat
No light
They flourish
They grow in the dark soil around
Keeping the tree steady
Keeping it up right
Making sure nothing knocks it down
The roots are to the tree
As the feet are to us
Strong and steady
Far from our minds
Lifting us up
Taking us to new heights
Searching
Finding
And taking us to what we need most
A fuel
A life fuel
Not water
Not sun
But joy and hope
The roots do the reaching
Far better than hands
Growing
And helping us be the better man
Deep roots = Deep joy
Our life fuel
