The Day I Went Back to School

In Honour of Betty Wixon R.I.P

I knew you weren’t staying
I knew you were going
The day I went back to school

Your life was a blast
Then that night you passed
The day I went back to school

Now that you’re gone
We try to move on
But the memory of you still hurts
And I don’t want to go back to school

(12)

This poem is about my Grandma's passing. I had had about a week off of school to babysit my baby cousin so my Mum and Aunt could stay at the hospital with their dying mother (she was suffering of a cancerous brain tumour). The next week I was forced to go to school on the Monday, and then that night she died, and I never wanted to return to school again.
