Father, an Oyster

You came like a blessing from the heavens door,
And changed me and my world, like the rain drop,
That fell on the parched floor,
And turned the barren earth,
Into an Eden of lush, green galore.

The time when chaos and din put everything on hold,
You whispered sweet little melodies into my chaotic world,
With your first cry, gentle touch and hold,
You breath life into my dreams and made them unfold.

The day you changed me from a man into a  father,
I turned my world into an oyster for you, my dear,
I shield you in my shell from all the vice and greed,
Now your world is an oyster,
So do whatever you need.

Maybe I live on the bed of a barren sea floor,
But that shall not bother you, my little girl,
I will lay you in bed, safe and warm,
In the core of my downy mantle cover.

I know there will be a day I may have to leave,
But I will make sure to leave you,
In a bed of corals, that’s what I believe,
And finally when the day I take leave,
To live away from the world you live,
I know my little girl, that I have left,
A precious pearl in this world!!

(2014)

My close friend Mithun Raj, asked me if I could write a poem on Father and Daughter relationship. I gave it a try, it may not be the best of a father to daughter messages, but....... This is dedicated to my good friend Mithun and his lovely Daughter... May God Bless Her!
