A Poem About a Soldier

The angels sing a song of sweet sorrow
Knowing I won’t make it tomorrow.
For my days are numbered, my story been told
I am not of use as I am much too old.

So listen now and hear the words that I speak
As I climb to the highest of the mountain peak.
I fought for what’s right, I conquered all that is wrong
Throughout all my days I was sure to stand strong.

I ask that you, my children, shall all do the same
Bringing our country to glory and fame.
A country that has fought with the blood of it’s men
Trying to prevent things from happening again.

Stand tall and proud and show no fear
Fight for your children and your mother dear.
As I and many others have fought hard for you
Fight for our colors, red white and blue.
