Pure Hearts and Poison Darts

The angels sing a sorrowful tune
As the purest of hearts turn gray
If things don’t change for these poor girls,
The purest of hearts won’t stay.

Isn’t it sad that the purest of hearts
Are the hearts to suffer it all?
A daughter left to watch her father
Waste away, drink by drink.
A son, so young and delicate,
Having to endure so much pain...

A girl with such beauty, filled with love,
And none to share it with.
While she cries to her best friends
But we can’t help, we’re broken too.

A girl with the purest of hearts
Treated as though she’s not enough.
While her sister cries next to her,
As the father throws his poison darts.

A girl with long blonde hair and blue eyes.
She is the one who suffers the worst, left on the floor
With her one and only company,
The empty bottle in her drunken arms.

The angels sing a sorrowful tune
As the purest of hearts turn gray.
If things don’t change for these poor girls,
The purest of hearts won’t stay.
