The Sun and the Moon

Brilliantly luminescent she sits upon the horizon, reluctant to fall
demanding in his splendor he rises, expecting it all
defiantly she clings to that last drop of midnight
where the birds don’t sing yet the evening brings a peace only found in silence
when the day breaks the ground shakes
as holy and unholy alike
awake and stir from the quite world
that is only found at night
remorsefully he brings the world to light
and watches as he sighs her plight
but fear not dear ones, this is not a tale of woe
for the sun so loved his bride the moon
he died every night as to let her rule
