A different view

As I watch from the shadow
I see your heart throb.
Not a throb for love,
Or joy,
Or happiness.

But a throb of pain,
Heartbreak,
Suffering.
I stare from afar
And wonder how much it would take...

To fix it all for you,
Make it all better.
Would you want my help?
Will you take my outstretched hand?
Or should I leave you be...

I look in your perspective.
I would want the help,
But I wouldn’t want to take it.
I would rather be broken and blue,
Than ask for your time.

So I emerged from my dark shadow.
I removed my hood.
I strode in your direction with quiet, careful steps
And I spoke four simple words:
“I’m here to help.”
