How is it that our prisoners
Are better cared for than our homeless?
How come expressing yourself
Makes you weird or a freak?
How come I can’t tell you you’re wrong
Because it’s assault and being abusive?
How come our children are babied,
Instead of being disciplined and taught what’s right?
How is it that when I say I am upset
I’m suddenly a depressed suicidal loner?
How come when I say I like someone
I’m suddenly a whore?
How is it that the ones you love
Are the ones you can’t be with?
How is it that when he says he loves me everyday
He’s suddenly a rapist and a stalker?
How come when he says he wants to marry me
He’s 'stealing me away and he’ll treat me wrong’?
How come when I write a sad poem
Everyone thinks I’m an attention seeker?
How is it that cops
Are suddenly all donut eating pigs?
How is it that our soldiers
Aren’t given the respect they deserve?
How is it that when a guy has long hair
He’s thought of as gay?
How come when a girl wears basketball shorts and loves video games
She is a lesbian?
